My grandmother's new found biological father's family from Agrigento is using two last names Maurici-Lino.
Is this odd? Or is it common in certain parts of Italy to do this??

Thanks,
Stephanie
Depending where this info came from, like the familysearch site. It looks to me like Maurici was married to a Lino. That site always adds Mothers name last. My ancestors read Eliseo Catuosco Grosso. His mothers name is Grosso.

The information came from images of the actual civil records, not just a transcription on FS. (Moreover, FS only adds mother's name if that name is actually added in the record.)

This was a double surname. At least 4 consecutive generations used both names (5 if you count the ones born in the US).

A link to Maria Longo's death certificate is below. She died August 25, 1837, and is listed as the wife of Ciro Maurici, age 40, and born in Alessandria. It indicates that she was the daughter of Benedetto Longo, a resident of Alessandria, and of Rosa Carbone, deceased.

Benedetto Longo, father of Maria Longo, died November 22, 1837, age 93, putting his birth year at about 1744 in Alessandria. He is shown as husband of Rosa Carbone, deceased, and as the son of Giuseppe Longo, deceased and of Maria Cannata, deceased.

Ok, I was just looking at the tree in the original post, which did not show them.

No problem. I appreciate your taking the time to look up those records, but I feel bad because they had already been found
