Hello, I am curious, if I am successful with my petition to be acknowledged as an Italian citizen, and a couple years later my parent (in the Italian line I claimed through) wishes to petition. Will the necessary records (aside from the naturalization ones) now be at the comune? What I mean is, will my parent be able to access their ancestors (and their own) vital records which I presume would eventually be kept by the comune as a result of my successful petition? Or, is my assumption wrong, and all foreign documents will have to be collected again (all the way back to our original Italian ancestor), translated and apostilled etc.?
Thank you
future applications by a parent
Re: future applications by a parent
If you are dealing with the same consulate, the records will be on file and can be accessed. If not, you should check with the specific consulate.
Keep in mind that your parent, even if in the citizenship line, will not be recognized unless he specifically applies.

Ok, so only the records at a particular consulate seem to affect the process for him. I was thinking that though he would not be applying with me, the purpose of the translations and apostilles was to get all of the Italian line records I submitted into the comune's DB, which in theory would make it easier for him to request them directly from Italy. Oh well, thank you for your advice!mler wrote: 05 Sep 2018, 16:31 If you are dealing with the same consulate, the records will be on file and can be accessed. That may work if he is able to establish residency and apply in Italy.
I’m assuming you live in different consulate jurisdictions. Why not order double of everything and apply at the same time.

Yes, we will likely be applying in different countries, so different consulates. I am intrigued by the idea of him applying in Italy though as it is my intention to live there if my application is successful. He is retired so he could establish residence in Italy by simply staying with me. I will have to look into this further, thank you.
