Hey Erudita,

I hope your appointment went well. The marriage act you found had a lot of information in it, so thanks. I do have a few questions though, because I can't make everything out. Here is the link to the act.

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

Does it say that Domenico was born in Corato?

I can't make out his father's profession.

I can't make out his mother's maiden name.

I understood Jan 1808 was Lucia's Birthday, but I can't read the date.

Did I read correctly that Lucia's father's name was Francesco?

Can you tell me what her mother, Maria Teresa's maiden name is?

Thanks so much for this act. I would not have looked for it right away.

Sorry but have been having trouble with the antenati website since I got back.

This is what I know is in the 1830 marriage record. I thought that finding the 1830 marriage record might help to narrow down Irena's year of birth, but I see it's in her 1852 marriage record. I can't find the record though, so the date may be incorrect.

In the 1830 marriage record:
Domenico Altobello, age 22, born in Corato- November 28, 1807 (unfortuately Corato records start in 1809); he was a carpenter/falegname. Son of Nunzio Altobello. I read cocchiere or coachman for Nunzio's occupation. He and wife Irena were living in Trani. Have not been able to decipher her surname.

Luica Colucci age 22, born in Trani Jan 14, 1808 (the birth records in Trani start in 1813). Her father Francesco Colucci, also a carpenter/falegname. Can't decipher her mother's surname yet.

In the 1852 marriage record-I see Giuseppe's date of birth as Nov 28, 1824 and Irena's as Nov 26, 1832, but I couldn't find her birth record. Didn't get a chance to look for Giuseppe's.

This may be all I can do for today. Have to get ready to go out again.

Thanks, Erudita!

Don't worry about Giuseppe, I got his birth record right away from the dates on the marriage act. I didn't understand his mother's maiden name, but that seems to be a trend with this branch of the tree. :)

Something is weird about Irene, but I'm going to leave it for now. It's past 9pm here so it's time to give it a break.

Antenati's been acting up all day for me too.

have a great day

Birth Act No 559: Irene Altobello

Hi Julie

I believe that the following is the birth record of your Irene Altobella. Unfortunately, the record is so faded that I can't read the name Irene, but I did find this birth record listed in the indices. You may have missed it because the indices for the Part II records were at the beginning of Part II. I really admire your persistence with this, Julie. Well done. They are not the easiest records. I'll see if I can play around with the record and glean any more information for you later. They have actualy doubled up with this record but neither seem better than the other. (Sorry to cut in Erudita, I've just noticed you have added some more info here too. Somehow I thought you'd finished for the day.)

Anyways, she was born on 26 November 1832, to Lucia Colucci, from Trani, 24 yo?, and from Domenico Altobella, from Trani, her husband, age 24 ?, who was possibly a Falegname? Builder/carpenter.

Glad you located the 1832 birth record, Angela. I was trying to search by date yesterday, but was having such problems with the images loading, and then gave up and never got a chance to get back to that search.

As always, Julie, happy to help. Right now, I can't get the antenati images to load for me-I'm in the eastern U.S. and it's 9:22 a.m. I am so frustrated since they redid this website. I think it's worse than ever.

Good morning, Erudita.

I'm six hours ahead of you. I find that the site works best between 8 am and 11 am. (I haven't tried earlier) Sometimes I get another hour or so. This leads me to believe that it works best for me when everybody in North America is still sleeping. I don't think the site is able to handle all of the traffic that it gets.

Yes, I was so pleased I found it. I can understand your frustration with the Antenati website. I so wish that Family Search had these records online as I find that site so much easier. I think that the Antenati site just need to fine tune a few things and then hopefully it will be sorted. They have had a lot of records go on line in a short time and also made some changes to the website, which need fine tuning. I agree with Julie that it probably doesn't cope so well with a lot of traffic. It seems to work better for me from about 2 am Italian time until about 8 am which is possibly your sleep time.
