Hi Julie
Glad you found the marriage record. Just one thing-always best to provide the URL for the record rather than a link to the record you downloaded. The reason I say this is because this marriage record is several pages and sometimes there is information on other pages which may be important. In other towns, I have actually gotten names and death dates for the individuals whose documents were listed as presented for a marriage. So in this record, on page 3, it does say that the birth acts of the groom and bride were presented, as well as death acts for his parents, his grandfather, her mother and her first husband but, unfortunately, the dates of their deaths is not given. But, you just never know if specific info will be recorded and you might end up missing on something.

The record gives Giuseppe's age as 29 and his date of birth in Trani as June 9, 1792. So I think I was pretty accurate in reading his age of 45 at death in 1837. Also his father was deceased Paolo Colangelo and now we know for certain that his mother was deceased Maria Curci. His wife was Isabella Marasciuolo, but she had been married before-the record reads that she was a widow. Her age is given as 45 in this record. Her father was Antonio. Her mother Lucia di Vincenzo was deceased. What I'm having trouble understanding is what it states about the Jan 1800 date. Obviously, if she was born in 1800, she would not have been 45 in 1829. I having trouble reading what comes after the word agli and before the word gennaio. It could be sei for the number 6 but I'm confused by the use of the preposition agli here and not before nove for his birth year.

Hey Erudita,

To be completely honest, I'm legally blind and I gave up trying to read anything when I found this record, because what's left of my sight started getting blocked out by moving black dots. Super fun!

I just came back to see if I had any messages and found this, so this is the first time I'm reading the information, which there seems to be a lot of, so thanks for sharing it. I was going to try to read the act tomorrow.

Sorry about the link. I'm not sure why that happened, but I'm glad you found the information.

You've told me about your eye issue which is why I'm trying to get out of these records as much info as I can for you.

I forgot to add the date of April 28, 1822 at 11 P.M. for the solemn promise to marry (left colum), and April 30th for the actual marriage ceremony in the parish church (right column).
