Carmine DiGiacomantonio

Post by SteveDiGi71 »

Hi Everyone!

I'm trying to find information on my Great Great Grandfather Carmine DiGiacomantonio …. He was born in Italy in about 1866. I know he had at least two sons Biagio and Vincenzo …. I never knew he came to the United States but I did find his naturalization papers from October 22 1901 in Boston. It was the only document I have been able to find. Was hoping to see if anybody could locate his birth or marriage certificate, if he had any other children or a ship manifest. Thank you all and have a great day!

You have to know the name of the town wehre he was born. It should be on the ship manifest or naturalization papers. There is a post on my website about Finding the town of ORigin that might help.

Is this your GGF?
Here is a naturalization index card. No town given.
Do you have the actual Declaration of Intent or Petition?

Were the sons born in Italy or USA?

Hi Tessa

Thank you for the link to the index card. I do have that but that is all I have been able to find. His son Biagio was born in 1883 and Vincenzo in 1887 both in Teramo, Italy

Here is an interesting US Passport application filed in 1924 at the American Embassy in Rome...

Applicant is Carmine DiGiacomantonio (actually the grandson of your Carmine) who is applying for himself (b-1910) and for his minor daughter [probably his sister, not daughter] Filomena (b-1913). They were bornn in Castiglione a Casauria (Teramo.) He identifies his father as Biagio DiGiacomantonio whose date of arrival he does not know, but he knows he arrived at Boston. Additionally, he identifies Biagio's father as Carmine, who was naturalized in 1901, and resides in Boston. Page 2 has photos of both Carmine (b-1910) and Filomena (b-1913) :-)

If you are not able to access the link in Ancestry, let me know.

I just recently joined and saw this post. Your great great grandfather is my great uncle. My great grandfather is his older brother, Domenico Di Giacomantonio. It is very nice to meet you.
