Rigano & Rubuano Marriage & Birth Records

Hi -- I am trying to confirm the birth place and marriage date/place for my great grandparents in Messina province so that I can request the records from the correct comune.

1. Agatino Rigano birthplace - I know his birthdate is May 20, 1887, but I am not sure if it is Santa Teresa di Riva or Furci Siculo

2. Giuseppa Rubuano birthplace- I know her birthdate is September 29, 1884 - and I'd like to confirm that she was born in San Fratello-- I feel more confident about this one.

3. Agatino + Giuseppa marraige date and location -- I am not sure their marriage date, but their son was born October 17, 1911, so it had to be before then -- I am not sure if it was in Santa Teresa di Riva, Furci Siculo, San Fratello or another nearby town.

Any guidance on where I could potentially find records from Sicily would be appreciated.

You are correct about Giuseppa.

Here is the birth act of Giuseppa Rubuano in 1884 (29 September) in San Fratello, Messina.
Father: Benedetto Rubuano, 27, farmer
Mother: Teresa Fichera, 23, spinner

I checked the marriages in San Fratello (most marriages take place in the hometown of the bride) through 1910, but did not find them. Possibly they married in early 1911.

Online records do not seem to be available for Santa Teresa di Riva and Furci Siculo after 1865.

Generally, we suggest a range of no more than 5 years. I think you will be fine with 1907-1911

I was going to search the Messina, Messina records when I saw it listed. Like you, I had searched prior and did not find anything after 1865 for Santa Teresa di Riva.

No matter! Now you have Agatino's birth act!

For the marriage to take place, in either San Fratello or Santa Teresa, there must be a publication of the marriage banns in BOTH towns. You should write to both requesting information about the marriage.
