Santroro, Rafaele - 8/1/1891 - Sala Consilina, Salerno, Campania

I was wondering if anyone might have some suggestions for looking for records for my husband's great grandfather.

I have this information from his WWI registration card:

Santroro, Rafaele - Date of Birth, 8/1/1891 - Born in Sala Consilina, Salerno, Campania

I have tried looking through the "Registri dello stato civile di Teggiano (Salerno), 1866-1910" on FamilySearch, but don't know if his birth record isn't in this or if I simply missed it due to not correctly interpreting the handwriting. It indicates that there are indexes, but I haven't found those...

I have not yet been able to find any documentation on the ship or ports that he would have taken from Italy to America.

Any suggestions and or help would be appreciated!

I looked through records for Sala Consilina (1890-1893) and did not find Raffaele Santoro.

Do you happen to know the names of Raffaele's parents. I located a birth recorded in Sala Consilina in 1892 for a Rosa Santoro. She was born in 1884 in New York and baptized in NY at the Parish Church of Madonna di Monte Carmelo (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel) on 10 March 1891. She was the daughter of Eusebio Santoro and Celestina Rizzo.

It may not be related to your Raffaele, but I thought it was worth exploring. In fact, there was another child recorded in 1893 in Sala Consilina. Antonio Santoro - with same parents.

That very well could be! So much of it matches up correctly! The birth date and name are a great match, and I have record that his father went by Tony - which could very well be the shortening of the 'antonio' portion of his name.
