Parents names

I was hoping someone make out the parents names for #167 Giovanna. I thought father's name might be Gianvario. But mothers name I can not make out. I looked at actual record and it's even harder to read.

Father's name is Gennaro.
The mother's given name is cut off, but the surname appears to be Tortoro.

Here's the civil record: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

Father's name like Tessa has said is Gennaro.

Mother's name is Vittoria Torino.

I need some help. I found the wedding of Giovanna and Francesco. I was hoping for a translation. I see her mothers name looks a little different, the info for the rest of the record would help very much.

The mother's surname is Iovino, a name found in Torre del Greco :-)

I cannot do the translation at this time.
Someone will certainly do it soon. If not, I will come back to do it.

#34
Dated 10 April 1818 in Torre del Greco

Groom: Francesco Saverio Ciaravolo, age 24 complete, farmer born and residing in this town; minor son of deceased Filippo who died on 31 October 1806, and of the living Teresa Panariello, age 50, spinner residing with her son, and who is present to give her consent to the marriage, (The next line appears to indicate a notarized act of 31 March 1818, stating that Francesco was never a soldier nor a professed monk.)

Bride: Giovanna Francesca Gargiulo, age 27 complete, spinner, born and residing in this town in the place called S. Vito, adult daughter of Gennaro, age 65, wool preparer(?), and of Vittoria Iovino, age 60, spinner, residing with their daughter, and present to give their consent to the marriage. Also a notarized statement that Giovanna Francesa is the widow of Francesco Vitiello, who died 15 October 1816.

Publication of Banns on 29 March and 5 April 1818.

Footnote on second page indicates a church marriage on 11 April 1818.

Thank you Tessa

They give you a lot of info in these records. The notarized act for him is strange, never a soldier nor a professed monk. Very odd

No, this declaration is not strange, and in fact there is also in the other acts of marriage of the register. Soldiers should have had a permit to marry and professed monks could not do so in church.
