Hello,
The attached and link are the marriage for Antonio Petralia and Mattea Crino from 1591. I'm interested in Mattea. Her parents look like Paolo and Domenica but there is something written before Paolo (Condas?) and after Domenica Crino that I can't read. Any suggestions.
Thanks
Chris

Mattea Crino marriage

I don't know what the abbreviation is which appears before their names. I'm guessing it is for a Latin word which refers to both sets of parents as being conjoined as spouses, or married couples, but it's not an abbreviation for the usual words for this, with which I am familiar. I have to let mmogno or Pippo help us with that one.
After Domenica Crino, I'm deciphering that they (Paolo and Domenica) were from Pietraperzia, but living in the city of Monreale. That is a town in Enna Province. Again, mmogno or Pippo can verify my thoughts on this one.

Before "Paolo" I think it's "condam" = "quondam" = "deceased"

I believe you are correct. I just found an online Latin dictionary that does show the words as synonyms. I had never before seen condam in the records.. Grazie per l'aiuto.

You're welcome, Erudita!
Here, everyone learns from the others. I've just seen a post of mine, dated 2007, and noticed that my English is far better than then!

Yes, Pippo, we all learn from each other on this forum, and I'm always grateful for the help you and mmogno give me with relation to the Latin records. Two years of high school Latin never prepared me for these records, but I love the challenge. I'm also sure you've studied that language in more depth than I did. And, I'd have to search for your old posts to compare your English then to what it is now. I think your command of the English language is excellent. I wish I could write in Italian, and understand it when it is spoken, as well I can read it.PippoM wrote: 30 Nov 2020, 16:23 You're welcome, Erudita!
