Greetings!
Seeking to establish Italian citizenship. I have grandfather's birth certificate, from Spadafora, Italy. But only limited info on grandmother.
Carmela Federico, no maiden name
according to grandfather's USA naturalization application (1922), born in Naples on October 19, 1893
Any ideas of how to find her maiden name? Her birth certificate? My grandparent's marriage certificate? I have no date on their marriage. I don't know what ship she came to America on, or even if my grandparents were married in Italy. I have found no record of a naturalization application for her.

I guess Federico was your GF's surname.
Can you post the documents you have about him, or give us some info?

Pippo,
I think the first link is to the naturalization record to which the poster is referring:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2060123
I think the Carmela Gerace on the passenger list (the two links below) is the Carmela for which the poster is searching. According to the naturalization record above, the daughter Natala was born in Italy. There is the daughter Natalizia Federico traveling with Carmela Gerace on the passenger list below, age 2. Unfortunately, I can't verify the names of Giuseppe Federico's parents, but I believe the names could be Salvatore Federico and Natalizia di Vita. I found a son named Salvatore Federico born to these parents on March 6, 1881 in Spadafora, and he may be an older brother of Giuseppe. The online birth records jump from 1882 to 1885, so I couldn't retrieve Giuseppe's birth record.

The passenger list seems to have Carmela born in the same town, but I don't see the record there.

According to the ship manifest, Carmela was born in Ventotene, but, unfortunately, there are no birth registers available.

Hi Pippo
I'm glad you noticed the town name for the birth on the passenger list. When I had looked at it quickly, I had completely missed that. As always, I appreciate a second set of eyes, especially when I'm tired.
Yes, the birth registers for that town are not online. Only the following is online, and for more recent years, at the antenati website: (link below):
http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... Ventotene/
The poster would have to write directly to the town to try get the copy of the birth record. The father's name on the passenger list appears as Vito. Here's a link to the town's website and the address for the stato civile there:
