Marino/Gioscia of Cirigliano or Laurenzana

Post by anpell16 »

Hello, Thank you in advance for any help. Having a lot of difficulty finding birth and marriage information for my great grandfather, Luigi Marino, and his first spouse Maria Guiseppa Gioscia. I am assuming they were both born around 1865. Their children, who came to America, were Giovanni, born in Cirigliano in 1887, and Angelina DOB 1889 and I have found information confirming their parents. I know from information passed down that Maria passed away young, perhaps around 1890. However I cannot locate that information either. I do know that Luigi remarried and had a large second family in Italy. I have researched many Marinos and Gioscias(?o) online but to no avail. Thank you! C

Susan, I am beyond grateful to you for finding this information and for translating it for me as I would not have been able to make out the handwriting! I have been looking for this information for awhile with no luck. Since I now know Luigi's year of birth and how to access the records, would you have any leads for me as to how I might possibly find out about his re-marriage? Unfortunately, I'm not sure what year or where in Italy he may have re-married. Thank you again for your help! C

Marriage records are available until 1900 and there is none. At least from a first glance I saw many Marino but no Luigi. I also searched in the following years, on familysearch and did not find it ...
