Anthony Ruggiero

Post by timfly »

Hello I am searching for a naturalization record(or declaration of intention record) for Anthony Ruggiero. Below I am attaching a census record that I found from 1930.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 3AXCH3-TJK

I am unable to find any naturalization record(or declaration of intention record) for him, and I'm not sure why

even I can't find a marriage certificate for Anthony and Mary(Maria?) which they should have gotten married in 1907

Maria's maiden name was Sabatino. I don't know what the A stands for.

Thanks again for your help

Here is an Index record from Indexes to Naturalization Petitions to the U.S. Circuit and District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, 1795-1951
POSSIBLE naturalization index for your Anthony Ruggiero in the Circuit Court.
Though the information on the card is scant, there is a record # you may be able to trace.

EDIT TO ADD:
Here is the Naturalization Petition in 1906 in Circuit Court (date 25 June 1906 - same as above index card)
Antonio's address is 612 South 8th ST. Philadelphia

I'd say that's a different Antonio Ruggiero, born in Riccia in 1883, married to Josephine Ciccotelli, and living in Philadelphia.

In the 1910 Census, your AR was recorded as an alien, in the 1920 Census he was recorded as having first papers, and in the 1930 Census he was recorded as a naturalized citizen.

I had checked all citizenship records in PA, including the one cited above, but, of course, I could have missed something.

If he served in WWI maybe he applied outside PA.

This is a very good point. My grandfather lived in Detroit, MI, but was assigned to a US Army base camp in SW MI, & was naturalized (while he was still in the Army) in Battle Creek, MI. Although all in the same state, some distance apart.

Considering the geographic location, if he WAS in military service, it could have been in another state where he was assigned -- I would check records in NJ, NY, DE, CT, MA, MD & VA just to be sure...

My grandfather's half-brother lived in CT but was naturalized in NY while in the service after WWI.
