Birth Translation 1843 Angelo De Luca
Re: Birth Translation 1843 Angelo De Luca
Presentation to the official on 12 November 1843 at 10 PM (12 written as duodici)
Birth on 12 November at 8 PM
Church record dated 12 November - Baptism "on same day" (nel giorno d'oggi stesso) - no time given.
Father: Domenico di Luca, age 38, farmer
Mother: Maria Palisi, age 28, his legitimate wife. (The writing looks like Palise, but Palisi is found in the Province)
Birth at their home in Contrada S. Marina
EDIT TO ADD:
Angelo's mother's surname is clearer in Angelo's marriage record - definitely Palisi.

Re: Birth Translation 1843 Angelo De Luca
"sua legittima moglie = his legimate wife" is a standard wording used in all Italian birth records whenever the parents are a married couple.

So Marriages in a Church were not legitimate, until the couple married in a Civil setting ( by a Government Official )
Thank you, Nicholas
