Hello,
My name is Kyle Anthony Rotelli - I am attempting to obtain my Great Grandmothers place of birth. I have my Great Grandfathers Birth Certificate but cannot locate my great grandmother Assunta d'Ascoli.
It is marked on paperwork when she emigrated to the USA as Serino, Italy. I have been able to track down her siblings as well as parents birth certificates (all within Serino) however when I reach out to the commune theyhave no record of Assunta.
Does anyone have any recommendations on an avenue I could take to garner a place of birth and birth certificate?
Please not in addition to the above, on her marriage certificate to my Great Grandfather her place of birth is marked as Serino, Italy.
Cheers,
Kyle

Re: Help locating place of birth (Great Grandmother)
Her full name might be Maria Assunta.
Re: Help locating place of birth (Great Grandmother)
Hi Darkerhorse - Her parents were Filomena & Domenico d'Ascoli. It is very possible her name is Maria Assunta and I would be delighted to learn that.
The 1910 U.S. census reports that Filomena Ingino D’Ascoli Cirino was the mother of 11 children, 6 living. 4 D’Ascoli children came to the U.S. (Biagio, Giuseppe, Assunta and Domenico).
It looks like they had two sons born in Serino that were named Biagio (born in 1874, then in 1875)
Death Certificate for Domenico d'Ascoli, Assunta's father. Record #107 in Serino.

Birth Certificate for Domenico d'Ascoli, Assunta's sibling. Record #273 in Serino.

Domenico d'Ascoli, 23, son of Giuseppe d'Ascoli & Rosa di Piano
Maria Carmina Filomena Ingino, 21, living in Santa Lucia Serino, daughter of Biagio Ingino & Maria Raffaela de Luca
Any help is much appreciated,

The couple also had a son named Giuseppe born in Serino on April 25, 1871.
On the 1875 birth record for Biagio, born in Serino on Sept 7, 1875, there is a notation in the margin indicating that the mother's name should be Maria Carmina Filomena Ingrino and not simply Filomena, as in the body of the record.

Thank you - I find it odd their is no birth record for Assunta in Serino, is there a chance it could be somewhere else? It is also odd they have all her siblings but not her...Any insight?
Thanks for your kind help - it is very much appreciated @darkerhorse & @erudita74

Re: Help locating place of birth (Great Grandmother)
I spent a bit of time looking for this last night with no luck. My guess is likely she was born in a nearby village. We have birth records for the children in 1871, 1874, and 1875, but nothing until 1882 which indicates at least Assunta and likely one other child are missing and they were probably living in a slightly different place. On the 1891 arrival record the Cirino family that Assunta and her two brothers arrive with are listed as their aunt/uncle.
Alternatively, in the village I mostly research in (also in Avellino) there was a period around 1895-1910 where corrections were made to many records from the 1870s including births that were skipped at the time for one reason or another. I didn't see any retroactive birth records for her in the 20th century but I didn't look extensively. I think these were often done when the person in question was being married, but, if she was married in Rhode Island, perhaps it would not have been appended.
