I was recgonized I think in 2008 in Chicago and registered all my children too. Latter my wife took the oath and is a citizen too. We have moved to New York, my daughter did an AIRE and has her italian birth cert.
I have put together all the docs and apostile required for the application for my gradson, and of course my daughter will have to apply for him.
My question, on the application it says a italian passport is required. Isn't her b/c good enough. If she has to get a passport this is a big bother. Is it really required?
Sorry begin a little lazy.
My daughter needs to register her son in NY consulat.
Re: My daughter needs to register her son in NY consulat.
Two years ago, my son finally registered his three children in AIRE in NY (actually I handled the paperwork for him).
Your daughter is not applying for her son; she is simply registering his birth in the AIRE system, so if they have her records, registering her child is quite straightforward. In my son’s case, his passport was expired, but he also had his Italian registered birth record, which he used with his NY drivers license for identification. Since he had never registered his marriage, he had to do that too. Fair warning, it’s slow going. They gave a three-month timeframe, but it actually took about eight months before we got the e-mail saying they were registered (and this was before COVID)
BTW, I’ve had a hell of a time getting their birth certificates from Italy, even though my son and I had no problem when we were recognized about the same time as you. Any suggestions?
