Re: Antenati Photo Format Problem
I just learned that not all browsers have the Json reader installed even for Windows computers.
FIREFOX does. So if you are still having problems download the free FIREFOX browser.

I got nowhere with Firefox either.
Re: Antenati Photo Format Problem
hi Ron, all I did was to drag and drop the link from one window (Antenati) to the other (IIIF Curator Viewer).
copying the link to clipboard and trying to paste it on the page just won't work.
when you drag the link, drop it by releasing the mouse somewhat below the "IIIF Curation Viewer / Drop a manifest URL to open" text: you will notice the screen turns grey as the mouse moves further down (see from 22sec mark in my previous video), that's when releasing the mouse button will work.
if this still doesn't work, then perhaps it is indeed a configuration issue of your PC, which I cannot help with, I'm afraid. good luck!

Ahhh thank you so much. I was trying to figure out how to download the image where it wasn't pixellated and awful! They've really made it much more difficult to find ancestry information and obtain the images!

Or if you prefer Chrome, just add the .json extension. If you click three dots on the top right side a menu comes up that includes "extensions" and you should be able click on that to add the .json. Chrome works just fine with the extension.Italysearcher wrote: 28 Dec 2021, 15:09 I just learned that not all browsers have the Json reader installed even for Windows computers.

Chrome does not have the .json extension when you pull up extensions. I even did a search for it on its Extension Search box, and it came up negative for the .json extension.

Line 42 (on the left) will give you the image.
Line 56 is the .jpg image. Click on that line and the image of page 1 will come up. Right click and 'save image'.
If you need page 20 keep scrolling until you see it and then scroll further to find the .jpg line.
You are there! Look at the numbers on the left. Line 42 is the page number, in this cae P. 1rp76226 wrote: 16 Dec 2021, 00:11 Here is what you said and my comments"

If you haven't, try it without the period. When I first learned of this, in the settings I clicked onrp76226 wrote: 14 Jan 2022, 16:42 Chrome does not have the .json extension when you pull up extensions. Tried json without the period. Still does not work.
Re: Antenati Photo Format Problem
Here is a good video on how to save good jpeg photos from Antenati civil records. It is a bit complex (that's Antenati's fault) but the photos saved are excellent to read, unlike any other method I've tried for saving photos on the new, terrible Antenati website (the old website was much, much better). The author takes an additional step of saving photo links to a spreadsheet that are essentially redundant and unnecessary once you've saved the photo to a folder on your computer. Recommend turning the volume up to better hear the video. After 5 seconds, you can click on Skip Ad to get to the real video.

On this link, when I follow the instructions and go in order, after I select year, the language changes from the English I had long ago selected to Italian. When I try to change it back to English, I lose that screen and it goes all the way back to the beginning screen. Horrible, horrible website that yields only problems and no benefits.

Re: Antenati Photo Format Problem
I finally successfully saved the photo in good quality using Firefox as my browser which has the json extension already installed. I won't add the json extension to Chrome because one of the things I pulled up on the extension in Chrome said it would reorganize my folders and that would be a complete disaster from which I could not fully recover.
The blue i instruction that was given initially confused me because it seemed I needed to click on it and proceed from there which doesn't work. You don't do anything with the blue i. You just scroll down that column with the blue i on top until you get to the IIIF Manifest and click on it.

I don't speak or know the Italian language; just some key words and numbers.
