Thanks for the translation. I don't know who Vincenzo is or to whom he was writing but maybe I can figure it out now.

Re: Help with postcard translation
Vincenzo may be a nephew from Italy. My grandfather came to America alone from Bagnara, Reggio di Calabria. Perhaps Vincenzo was visiting Chicago and decided to send a picture postcard. On the other side of the postcard is a studio picture of Vincenzo.

Re: Help with postcard translation
Some 35 years ago my cousin Evans Casso wrote a book about my great grandfather Lorenzo Casso and researched all the husbands of Lorenzo's daughters. In the book he states that my grandfather Lucien Regira came to this country as Lunciado Ruggiero but his name was anglicized. He also states that Lunciado is probably a mispelling of his true name Nunziato as there is no such name as Lunciado in the italian language. He also came from Bagnara, in the province of Reggio Calabria. He was born in 1860 and spent a few years in New York before moving to Donaldsonville, LA. The book does not say when he came to America but he was married in 1889. I would guess this nephew? is probably from southern Italy too. Thanks for all your help.

Re: Help with postcard translation
VJ, all those names are my grandparents and their children. My father was Lawrence too. As you can see, all those names are the same family with different last names. We today pronounce our last name Ruh-Jeer-uh. I can see how census takers would spell what they heard and you get the same family with different spellings. I even saw one website that had my father's name listed as Florence. I also see the oldest son Lucien is listed as Lucie. I suspect that Vincenzo's spelling is the correct one-Ruggero. Donaldsonville at that time was a hotbed for Italian immigrants.
Nuccia, I don't know what it means to link images but if you want to you can.
Thanks,
Lawrence
