Hard to find Records
Hard to find Records
Good Morning, I am looking for a marriage, birth and/or death record for Francesco Paolini/Palioni and Anna Domenica Piconi. I know nothing about them and the only reason I know they exist is because their daughter Santa Paolini/Palioni’s death record in Montefino says that those were her parents and that they lived in Amatrice. For some reason, I can’t find any records of them anywhere. A little help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Re: Hard to find Records
Forgot to put the link to the death record: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... 92/w1PY8ay
Re: Hard to find Records
Here are some records that MAY help you.
On Santa's death act it mentions her husband Zopito di Gennaro. I located his death act, and his birth act in Montefino (Bozza) to help establish a timeline while looking for a marriage for him and Santa. Unfortunately, there was no annotation on Zopito's birth act for a marriage.
Death act (1890) in Montefino - his age is incorrect on this record.

Birth act (1823) in Montefino (Bozza)
https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... 06/5GKRoWz
There should be a publication or notification record in Montefino for Zopito's marriage. That should contain more information about Santa and her parents. If you can locate a marriage processetti, it would contain Santa's birth act (which I have searched for without success.)
EDIT TO ADD:
Here is the notification of marriage for Zopito and Santa in 1847 on 12 September
It is interesting to note that Santa's surname on this record is Ottaviani - Parents: Francesco Ottaviani and Domenica/Domenica Picone who reside in Roccapassa (a frazione of Amatrice.) This may be why you could not find the parents' marriage, birth, death, etc. I will look for the marriage and confirm that this is the correct couple.

Hello, my apologies for replying kind of late but thank you so much for finding all this for me. I wonder why her surname is listed as something completely different on her son's record and her death record? I'm now on my quest to finding her parents' death records but I don't see any occurence of the surname "Ottaviani yet." Hopefully they passed away in either Roccapassa or Montefino and not somewhere else or I could be looking for ages! Thanks again!

What the heck?! Well, that's very bizarre and makes things even more complicated then I thought. Is there a possible reason why she has a different surname on each record? Could it be a screw up on the part of the one writing these records? Thanks so much for finding these!

Re: Hard to find Records
It is definitely a mystery!
For each of these births, her husband Zopito is the declarant. HE provides the information to the clerk regarding his wife's surname.
He was a peasant farmer, most likely illiterate, and it is possible that he could not recall accurately.
An observation -
The surname on Alessandro's birth has an ending similar to Picone (Santa's mother's surname)
The surname on Annantonia's birth sounds similar to Ottaviani.
The surname on Massimo's birth is similar to Picone, again.
EDIT TO ADD:
I have searched extensively for the birth act of Santa Maria Ottaviani, but without success.
I have only found the index listing that I posted earlier which shows her parents as Francesco and Domenica Ottaviani, and birth on 1 March 1815 in Amatrice.
And since Santa would have had to provide her birth act for the marriage in 1847, the surname is accurate on the notifications posted above in September 1847.
