Please help with another marriage record from Sambuca

Post by italian059 »

I would appreciate help translating this record for Girolamo Di Giovanna and Anna Maria Catalanello (?). Does this record state who her parents are? Any info would be greatly appreciated. The Palermo records are so much easier to read, lol. Page 2 is showing up first, sorry.

It says her parents are unknown.

Have you not found the Civil Record for this marriage? Is that year 1871? 1821?

Perhaps provide a link to where you got these records from so a clearly, larger record can be accessed by us.

the bride's name in the record is spelled as Audienzia, but it should be Audenzia. She was age 15 of unknown parents. If you then search the indices for the church baptisms for abt 1806, you will find that a lot of the infants given this first name have the letters N.N. in the index after their name, literally meaning, "I do not know the name-The N.N. refers to the Latin words Nomen Nescio -

Hi Erudita, I am a little bit confused. So is the Civil Record that SantaNinfa posted the same as the one I posted above? I was under the impression that the bride's name was Anna Maria Catalanello not Audenzia. I know the mother of the groom was Audenzia Ferrero. Not sure what to think. Please verify. Thanks so much.

Mary

I can't explain why the bride in the church record is Anna Maria Catalanello, of unknown parents, and the one in the civil record is Audienzia (Audenzia) of unknown parents. In the right column of the civil record, the date of July 8, 1821 is given for the marriage in the church, which is the date of the church record marriage you posted. I just checked the online church records in Sambuca for that date, and it's the only marriage record there for the month of July and also for that day in July in 1821. I'm completely at a loss concerning this one, sorry.
