From the marriage index of Vincenzo Vigneri, their son, it states that Vincenzo was born in Petralia Soprana [Palermo] ...

Here is the birth in 1883 in Petralia Soprana of Vincenzo Vigneri, son of Giuseppe Vigneri and Gandolfa LaPaca, his wife. Unfortunately, it does not identify the place of birth of the parennts. The father, Giuseppe Vigneri, was not able to present the child to the official because he was outside of the territory...
Vincenzo Antonino Vigneri was born on 27 February at Villa Trinità in Petralia Soprana.

In Italian records, a person is named and then further identified by naming that person's father...(and sometimes mother)
In the birth record Giuseppe Vigneri's father was Francesco Paolo Vigneri, who is deceased at the time of Petra's birth.
Gandolfa La Placa's father was Andrea La Placa, who was also deceased at the time of Petra's birth...

Since Gandolfa La Placa is age 22 in 1873 at the time of her daughter Petra's birth, we can surmise that Gandolfa was born about 1851 to Andrea La Placa (and we do not know her mother's name yet). We have not identfied her place of birth yet, but Petralia Soprana is looking promising...

Filippo could possibly be an error... the above posting for birth of Giuseppe is from an index of births, and not from the actual birth record. Could be a transcription error... It's likely, since the spelling of the surname is Vigneri and not Vignera.. another error...

The name Francesco Paolo Vigneri is what I read from the actual birth record of Petra Vigneri in 1873... so that name is the correct name of Giuseppe Vigneri's father.
