Age of siblings

Post by deigo1 »

Could someone help with the age at death of my grandmother's siblings. I'm making out the parents names, but the ages are difficult at least for me to make out. I'm trying to back into when the marriage of their parents may have occurred (ie trying to figure out who the oldest child is)

I had missed a sibling Gabriele (son) who was in Part II of the 1903 death registry...

With no format, I was curious did he actually die in 1903? I know on prior examples it could sometimes take a couple years for it to be posted to Part II. I think I'm making out he was 76, but wanted to confirm year of death/age.

He was age 76 at death. Looks like he died yesterday, so on Aug 31, 1903, on a public street near the Palazzina in Maserno. He was born and resident of this section of the town of Montese. He was in the army at the time of his death. The record was received by the town from the brigadier of the army.

Nell'esercito? Non trovo dove sia data questa informazione. E poi a 76 anni?
Leggo che era figlio di Sante e Caterina Marcacci, ambedue defunti, e marito di Lucia Mattioli.

@mmogno-

Well, I can’t use the excuse that I started celebrating the New Year early. Yes, he was 76 at death but NOT in the army at the time.

Felice anno nuovo, G. I think I’ll have that drink now, even though it’s still 2 1/2 hours until midnight where I am. Happy New Year to Diego too.

Happy New Year to you both!...and thank you for the help

I was hoping maybe he was some type of general if still enlisted at 76 :)

Now I'm curious, any thoughts on why he would be listed in Part II when he died in his own town? I had understood that PART II was used when you died outside the commune and they didn't hold the actual death record.

Diego
I hope I explain this correctly. There is a police corps (carabinieri) with military status at a command station in Montese. The secretary to the town mayor received notice of Gabriel’s death from the brigadier at this command station. I’m guessing the record was in Part Il because he died somewhere in the street near this location, and the details of the death were sent from this command station to the town hall to be incorporated into its registers there. Hopefully mmogno will give you a better explanation.
