Thank you, MMogno!
You’re the amazing one.
I’m thinking that Paolina was back in Neirone possibly owing to a death in the family. My Italian is not great. Could there be a death act for her father circa 1900 in Neirone?

Also, my distant cousin, Deirdre, the original poster, is searching for Paolina’s birth act. Would you be able to locate it?

I'm not sure of Pauline's parents' names. But Paola Natalina is the only Gardella born in the years 1869-70 in Neirone with a baptismal name similar to Paolina.I don't know where Deidre came up with the names Charles and Catherine as Pauline's parents. Unfortunately, he does not make explicit the sources from which it derives its information.

Those names, Charles and Catherine were on Paolina’s NYC marriage certificate of 1888 to Angelo Rosasco. I have found many errors in the US documents. Mainly, I’m certain as many Italians could not read or write back then. As such, they trusted others to complete the documents themselves.

I’m going to go with what you have found to see if I can find the the parents listed on this birth act for Paola.

Thanks, again.

Wait. I think the parents’ names of Charles and Catherine appear on Paulina Gardella Rosasco’s death certificate, Brooklyn, 1935.
In any event, again, I have found errors on US documents with my own branch of the family. I don’t think the US was as diligent with recording life events as the Italians were.

Hi Mongo. The Gardellas did not often marry anyone outside of Neirone but my great grandmother, who married a Gardella from Neirone was, herself, born in Roccatagliata. Could Paolina Gardella been born there?

I also see and remember a village/town named Rosasco very close to Neirone. As with the original poster, I also have Rosasco family members through marriage to Gardellas.

I’d really like to help Deidre as she is so sincere in her search.

As you know, back in the day, many marriages were arranged through family. My grandparents’ marriage was so arranged.

As I have posted in response to Deidre, a year or so ago, my second cousin twice removed whom I had never known to exist, helped me greatly to find the death act for my great grandfather, Pietro Luigi Gardella, died Neirone in 1916. This was the last piece of Italian records that I needed to apply for Right of Blood citizenship through Pietro.

I’d very much like to pay that kindness forward to help Deidre.
Unfortunately, the only way I know how to do that, at this point, is to call upon you and your kindness.

Throughout my time on this forum, I have seen again and again how you help others, particularly we Italian Americans.

You must be a busy man as most folks are but if you have any spare time, would you consider looking for a birth act for Paolina Gardella in either Roccatagliata or Rosasco?

If I can do anything for you as I live in NYC and am very familiar with the city and the municipal archives, please let me know.

Roccatagliata (2,14 km) and Rosasco (0,63 km) are two villages belonging to the municipality of Neirone.

I am not able to find the marriage of Carlo Gardella to a Catherine, among those that took place in Neirone in the years 1866-1871. Marriages prior to 1866 are not online.

I found the religious marriage of a Carlo Giuseppe Gardella (Angelo's son) to a Maria Caterina Caprile in the registers of the Parish of S. Maurizio in the Municipality of Neirone. Nov 17, 1858.

Update! Still searching! So I have hit a dead end on searching for Angelo Rosasco - but happy to learn that with the 1948 rule I can continue with my GGM Paolina Gardella.
I am learning now about CONE documents.
All info on these are welcomed!
