Looking for the death record of Maria Filomena Iannace and birth record of Vittoria Pesaturo

Post by Amansolillo »

Hello,

I am seeking the death record of Maria Filomena Iannace and the birth record of her daughter Vittoria Pesaturo.

Maria Filomena Iannace (b. abt 1837, Raviscanina) was the first wife of Michele Arcangelo Pesaturo (b. 15 Jan 1850, Prata Sannita). Michele was the son of Ottaviano Pesaturo (of Prata Sannita) and Vittoria Conca (of Marzano Appio). After Vittoria Conca died in 1863, Ottaviano married Maria Luigia Iannace in Raviscanina in 1866; his son Michele married Maria Luigia's sister Maria Filomena on 20 Jan 1873 in Raviscanina (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 3630&i=257). Presumably, Maria Filomena died sometime between 1873-1878. At least one child, Vittoria Pesaturo, was born during that period. Rhode Island records give varying dates as to when Vittoria was born, but her marriage record to Giovanni Marcello on 24 Jul 1917 in Rhode Island indicates 8 Apr 1873. Michele remarried to Cecilia Fragola (of Piedimonte d'Alife) on 12 Dec 1878 in Letino (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 43630&i=75).

I am currently unable to find the death record of Maria Filomena or the birth record of Vittoria. Michele was a secretary and royal delegate in Caserta and lived in multiple towns throughout Caserta before immigrating to the United States in 1891. I have checked towns affiliated with Michele, such as his native Prata Sannita, Raviscanina (where he and his father married the Iannace sisters), Marzano Appio (where his mother was from), Piedimonte d'Alife (where his second wife was from), and Letino (where he and his second wife were married and had children).

Perhaps this is your Vittoria...

Here is the birth of Elvira Gesualda Nicoletta Vittoria Pesatura in 1879 October in Letino.

Father: Michele Pesatura, 29, Segretario...
Mother: Cecilia Fragola, his wife, school teacher.

Hello Tessa,

Vittoria and Elvira are sisters; they are two separate people. Vittoria's marriage record to Giovanni Marcello indicates she was the daughter of Michele Pesaturo and Maria Filomena Iannace. All records suggest she was born prior to Michele's marriage to Cecilia.

Vittoria's death record in 1955 in Rhode Island indicates she was born on 6 July 1869 in Prata Sannita. However, this would predate Michele's marriage to Maria Filomena. When reviewing that date in Prata Sannita's records, Vittoria does not appear.

Did Ottaviano Pesaturo and his wife Maria have a 15 years old daughter (in 1882) named Vittoria as well?

This is their arrival on 26 July 1882

Yes, they did.
Vittoria Vincenza Pesaturo born on 7 April 1867 in Prata Sannita to Ottaviano and Maria Luigia Iannace. Act #25

Just as a curiosity.

Yes, this is a separate Vittoria Pesaturo who later immigrated to the United States and married Rocco DiDio, Nicola Mastriano, and Giuseppe Rosso. Vittoria, daughter of Ottaviano and Maria Luigia, lived in New York and lost custody of the children she had with Rocco DiDio, whereas Vittoria, daughter of Michele and Maria Filomena, never had children of her own. I will admit, it is definitely confusing that Michele and Ottaviano, father and son, married two sisters and had daughters with the same name.
