I’ve located the census and it’s quite the goldmine and will assist you with your further research:
Luigi Lodi, was the son of Vincenzo Lodi and the deceased Maria Antonia Urangia.
He was born 16 February 1834, a School Teacher, married in Governolo to Adelaide Pellegrini, daughter of Piedro/Pietro and the deceased Teresa Maltini, a tailer, born in 1837. She was born in Mantova but he was born in Volta Mantovana, Palermo.
No, Luigi è nato a Volta Mantovana (Mantova). Palermo è la città di provenienza, quando ritorna il 27/5/1882. In quella data è domiciliato dal padre, che risiede a Volta Mantovana.
The children of Luigi Lodi and Adelaide Pellegrini:
Senofonte Lodi, born 31 August 1860, Governolo,
Antenore, born 14 July 1861, Governolo
Odone, born 31 September 1863, Bruno (It would be interesting to see names given on Birth “Act”). Potrebbe essere Breno, Brescia, in Val Camonica.
Oreste, born 27 July 1864, Bruno. Potrebbe essere Breno, Brescia, in Val Camonica.
Empedocle, born 31 August 1878 which basically tallies with his age of 26 on 1903 immigration record. He was born in Sutera, Caltanissetta
You already have the children’s occupations as extracted from the index.

Re: communes in Palermo Ufficio 1 & 2
mmogno, what a find, the Pellegrini, that brings me back another generation! Again, I appreciate it!
If I'm reading this correctly, apparently Peitro had 2 different wives?
On the Lodi census it shows Teresa Maltini
On the Pellegrini census it shows Maria Dorini born in 1805.
Since this thread is getting so long maybe I'll start a new thread.
Thanks again for your help!

Yes. Teresa Maltini (--> daughter Adelaide) and Maria Dorini (--> son Candido Gregorio)
Maria Dorini passed away on Oct 31, 1870

Mark,
I don't know if some of the arcane details of Palermo geography got completely clarified for you (and my understanding is far from complete), but regarding this snippet from the thread:
"BTW, I found that on my grandmother's side, Martines, her grand parents were married in Sant' Ninfa and her ggrandparents were born in Sant' Oliva. I tried mapping the distance between the 2 communes but it seemed like it was a 1 hour train ride between the 2 towns, I'm not sure if both of those towns are still in existence."
Sant Ninfa and Sant'Oliva are not separate communes, but are merely "quarters" (= neighborhoods?) in the old/central portion of the city of Palermo, and are essentially right next to each other, walking distance, conducive to courtship.
