Fidelis Stabile
Hello All,
He is the last of my 2 x great grandparents that i need a date.
I want the birth to confirm he is born to a second marriage of his father in which both of his wives are named Rosa. Lol.
The first wife died in 1775 and the death mentions the 2nd wife so i am pretty sure it is the second wife but want birth to be confirmed.
Fidelis Stabile ID # L1JZ-XMF on family search.org
i cannot find his birth
His death states that he is 84 at time of death in January 23, 1863 which makes birth about 1779 in the town of Campofiorito, Sicily
He married Antonina Francesca Josepha Mistretta in September 16, 1804 in Campofiorito
If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Hope all is well your way and thank you for your help in the past
Best

Re: Fidelis Stabile
Fedele's age listed as 49 on the marriage act of his son Vincenzo in 1830
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 68/5Gy8aqg
And age 50 at the marriage of his daughter Anna in 1834.
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 76/wQPVM79
And STILL age 50 in 1839 at the marriage of son Antonino
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 86/wjdxpG3
Age 56 at marriage of son Ignazio in 1843
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 94/LyP7p2l
You can see how fluid ages are on the records...

Re: Fidelis Stabile
Hello Tessa,
I was conflicted about his age and gauged also by his marriage date in 1804 BUT
i looked in records spanning a 20 year range- before and after and didn't find anything.
Do you have any suggestions. I wish i could ask the town he was supposedly born in Campofiorito
Thanks for responding.

Re: Fidelis Stabile
This appears to be the church marriage of Vincenzo Stabile and Rosa Iacono in 1776 in Campofiorito. It mentions that he is the widower of Rosa Zito.
If Fedele was born about 1779, then Rosa Iacono would be his mother.

I checked the baptisms (1762-1797) but did not find Fedele. You may want to search them. The index begins here...

Re: Fidelis Stabile
thanks Tessa
yes as i stated on first message- i am guessing it is Rosa Iocono BUT i want to be certain and i guess it bugs me not having this one piece of info that completes the whole generational level of my 2x times grandparents.
your additional info re his children was very helpful as well as the ages.
As i stated before i have looked at births 20 years prior to 1779 and 20 years after and found nothing. I wish someone here lived close to Campofiorito or knew someone that could get the town person over the records to see if they could provide the birth record.
Thanks again.

Re: Fidelis Stabile
Did you mean that you looked at baptisms?
Civil registrations did not begin until early 1800s.
Below are the only baptisms/births that I found for the couple Vincenzo Stabile and Rosa Iacono from 1768 through 1797.
The baptism/birth of daughter Barbara in 1778 July.

A Son, Paschalis [Pasquale] born to the couple in 1780 September.
Baptism is second from bottom on right.

Here is the baptism/birth of daughter Anna, born to Vincenzo Stabile and Rosa [Iacono] in 1782.

A son, Gaspare, baptized/born 1783 November.

Re: Fidelis Stabile
T,
The Gaspare born in 1783 has the second first name Fidelis in the record. I previously found this for Linda. Personally, I think that this is her Fidelis who is referred to by only his second or middle name in the civil records. My husband has a Sicilian ancestor who was given four first names at baptism and is found in the civil records only under the third of those first names.

Thank you. That was my thought all along. That Fidelis had a different first name.

Re: Fidelis Stabile
thank you all!
i guess it will just have to be a guess re fidelis and gaspare fidelis.
i have not found any additional records regarding Gaspare to dispute the guess.
thanks again,
I will see if i have the info above regarding baptisms.

Re: Fidelis Stabile
oh it does not look like it posted re marriage of july
i was saying that pizzatola is actually the mother's maiden surname and the father is picardo so vita is Picardo
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... g=en&i=150
with that in mind errors are abound and helps me to be more comfortable with guessing Gaspare fidelis is indeed Fidelis
Thanks
