Info on DiGeronimo's.... Help me find the missing link

Post by ddiger »

My grandfather is "Angelo" DiGeronimo born on 21 Sept 1896..
When he came to US ?? He died on 12 Oct 1977 Essex, NJ
That's all we know...there are some scattered names being thrown around but nothing solid..

My Grandmother Christina Giannetti born on 02 Apr 1900..
arrived here through Ellis Island for the main reason on marring my Grandfather. She died on 19 May 1960. I believe she is in the 1930 Census for Essex NJ...

Any help..Clues...Anything greatly appreciated..

Your info is dead on so far....You have found out all that I have on my grandparents( I've been searching for the last 10 years)....From this point back I can not find anymore info... I know all of their children(my father & my aunts & uncles) They had 9 children in all..Only 4 still alive today & they don't know much. My Godfather (surname Nardella) knew the DiGeronimo in Italy..
I'm not 100% it's the same family???

What I find funny is my grandmother is listed in the 1930 census but not my grandfather.....Like he was hiding or something...Some details very sketchy.. We have a war medal of his(not sure which war though & I believe its from the Italian army)Might be a clue to something..

Great Jobs so far, I do appreciate the help. -ddiger

http://ellisisland.org/search/shipManif ... 0153%2ETIF
the age it seems correct...but the final destination in 1920 is Natick, MA... regards, suanj

That maybe it...`I checked my notes I confirmed that once My Godfather(Nardella) told me that my grandfathers, fathers name was Vincent(Vincenzo). I'll do some more digging to put that puzzle together...
Does anybody know how do I find out info from MA Ship manifests...
Would the info be any different then this manifest.. Just on a hunch I've always said he came through MA.. Nice find!!!

Looking back at manifest the sex column had him down as female, any chance this is a TYPO??

My ancestors were also Di Geronimos who came from Lacedonia to Essex, NJ. I have traced my family through Vincenzo Di Geronimo, who emigrated in 1906, back to Giuseppe Di Geronimo and Maria Montesion, both born in the late 1700's. While I have a fair amount of information on other branches of the Di Geronimo family, they were very numerous in Lacedonia, so most likely your family is not in my records.

However, I do have a Vincenzo Di Geronimo born in 1852, as well as an Angelantonio born in 1836, both of them uncles of my Vincenzo Di Geronimo. Let me know if there is any way I can help.

I have been following the "Essex, NJ" clan for some time now, but have been unable to find the link.. I don't know if Vincent (Vincenzo) DiGeronimo ever came to the US. The only thing my parents can remember is my grandfather(Angelo DiGeronimo) always hung out with his brother(Joseph) from NJ & a Peter DiGeronimo( a brother or cousin??)..My years ago I printed out the NJ DiGeronimo Family Tree & MY Godfather(surname Nardella) said we were not related..???

Your help & all that helped so far..is greatly appreciated
I know together we will figure this out...Thank You

Hi ddiger,

To reserch the family in Lacedonia, you can ordered/rent the LDS Church (Mormoms)films of the civil registries (birth, marriage & Death acts) for this town.

1809-1910 civil records.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... ato+civile++

If you don't know about the LDS Church & their Family History Centers, please let us know & we can provide additional information.

Hope this helps.

Happy hunting!
