Condurens??

Post by sonnetcnmt »

Hi everyone, I am new here and this is my first post. I just got my great-grandfather Anthony Siano's death certificate in the mail and his place of birth is listed as Condurens, Italy. I am pretty sure this is a misspelling. The family has always said he was from Tuscany but a search of a Tuscany map yields no clues. Does this ring a bell for anyone Please email me at Rschulzfam@aol.com. Thanks!

My maternal grandfather was Angelo Contursi from Leoni/Avellino? He married my grandmother Teresa Fata she was from Reggio/Calabria. In speaking with family members I believe the name was spelled Condurso upon arrival, but have not found him or my grandmother on any manifests. Any information would be helpful. Teresa Fata had a brother named Louis, that is all info I have. And Angelo had a sister (half) who went to Bueonos aries....Thank you. I may be able to provide birth dates, when I visit their gravesit.

Teresina Fata

from other records, which you may have
already seen, it appears Teresina was
born abt 1886 and probably immigrated
between 1908 and 1911,
with daughter Angiolina:

Information on Angelo Contursi/Teresina (Theresa) Fata on Ancestry.com Public Tree

Daughter Angiolina is shown on the tree as Mary, born 21 Nov 1907 in Calabria. Teresina/Theresa shown as born in Reggio Calabria. Since father/husband Angelo's ship manifest shows he was from Lioni, I question the validity of the birthplaces of Angiolina and Teresina on this tree but cannot disprove.

Nice get, Valarie!
Noticed that daughter Angiolina is shown as Maria on the 1920 census.

Now if we could only find the manifest to determine Teresina and Angiolina's birthplaces.

The search for the place Condurens has gotten lost. Is the death certificate handwritten? Who is the informant on the death certificate?

Hi Peg!
Normally we would start another post, in this case
the original post was from 3 yrs ago and the poster
hasn't followed up.
Since the name Contursi may be of interest to
the original poster too, we didn't suggest to
Barbara57 that she start a new one.
You never know  !
