1st Wife?

Post by natalies »

I have been looking at a marriage record. (I tried to upload it, but I was unsuccessful). Antonio is marrying Angela. My question is about "relito in primi voti." I think Antonio was married before because it says, "relito in primi voti della fu Domenica." Does that sound right?

Any hints about uploading a picture?

Go to http://www.photobucket.com
It is very easy to upload photos there. You have to register but it is quick and easy and you do not lose the images like you do with Image Shack.
After the grooms name it should say Celibe (single, never married) or vedovo (widowed) after the brides name it should say nubile (single never married) or vedova (widowed).
Hope this helps.

This is the instructions to load an image to your post.

Also see my post in this forum asking for translation help. Ron Fornal gave me some additional information so I could make the right selection for my image.

It worked great.

As for della fu Domenica - fu means dead or deceased. So if Domenica is the name for the grooms mother, it means she's deceased. If it's the name for the brides mother it means the same (brides mother Domenica is deceased).

I don't know about relito in primi voti. Primi means 1st and voti means vote - so I'm not sure what it is pertaining to.

Hope the instructions help.

my 2 cents........... because the handwriting is illegible:
-Antonio ( son of late Giovanni.... ? and late Giovanna.... ?) widower of Domenica Pelizzon
-Angela Casonato(?) widow of late Giovanni Salamon
witnesses: Angelo/a Dagota(?) and Giacomo David(?)

Thank you!!!!! That's what I was thinking, but I didn't know for sure if the extra names were previous spouses.

I know, the handwriting is tough!

I know same surnames cause lokks to be from my area:
The surname of the mea could be Ragonese (but is diffcult to understand), the surname of his mother is surely Barro
The surname of the woman is surely Casonato
The witnesses are Angelo Pagoto and Giacomo David or (more probaly) Davio.

The parish of the men is San Giovanni del Tempio (just north of the town of Sacile (PN)).

From which parish is this document?

My dad travels to the area a few times a year because we have relatives there. He visits the parishes to find more information about our ancestors. This document is from a picture that he took.
