Suanj, Nuccia, Lisa and everyone!
Thank you so much for all the information and work you put into helping me locate records on my Great Grandfather Ermenegildo Sabbatini. My father had once told me his grandfathers name was spelled Erman Gildo before he settled on Erman Guido. You figuring out it was one name was so helpful! My family did settle in Ladd and Springvalley Illinois. It HAS to be the same person!!!
I am going to have to contact the Bureau County for more records before I try and contact anyone in Italy. I do believe that the Ellis Island record for Sabatini,Egidia 1893 33 1860 is my Great Great Grandfather Egidio. If you look at it, it says he/she was a Masonary worker, which not many women were back then. Plus it looks like an O at the end of the name and not an A. I don't know how someone thought that was an A!
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!!!
Thanks for everything!!!!

I sure will let you know what I find out! My ultimate goal is to find out if and old family rumor is true...That we are related to Rafael Sabatini the Author from Jesi, Italy. He wrote Captain Blood as well as other books. Captain Blood was made into a movie. We were always required to watch it on Masterpiece Theatre when ever it came on. I don't know how far apart Jesi and Montese are but I see what I can find out!

I know this post is older, but I just received, from these wonderful people, some copies of naturalization papers. One of the names is Salvatore Algieri Rinella. I have yet to figure the relation, but my mother was a witness and her maiden name was Rinella. It almost looks like my grandfather's brother. The paper says Salvatore came over from Termini Imerese on the SS Princess Irene on 2/20/1913. This has his birth as 4/12/1884. Married to a Stella on 4/30/1917 in Cleveland Ohio. He shows 8 children: Joseph, James, Ross, Rose, Sam, Annie, Concetta, Anthony all born in Akron.
I don't know if any of this is in relation to yours. Seems the names Anthony, Rose, Frank and Salvatore are very very common.
