Help with my last name
Hi and happy new year to all!
I just joined and was hoping anyone out there can help in my search. Our last name is Boccaloni, although it may have been modified. My father and his father were born in Argentina, but my father says his grandfather came from Italy. We do not have much more information. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Help with my last name
Hi Valarie and thanks for the help. I did find the info on Battista, and there is also a Mary...they may have married because there is a record of 4 other Boccaloni's also in Edwardsville, and it makes sense with their dates of birth. There is additional information on the grandkids, assuming these were the grandparents, again, because of the ages listed. I guess I have to call or write. I've never done anything like this and I wonder how to better approach them. Any more suggestions? Again, thanks a lot! Veronica

Re: Help with my last name
Hi Suanj, thanks for the response! My father's name is Hector Romeo Boccaloni. His father was named Romeo Leandro Boccaloni. His father was Ricardo (or Riccardo) Boccaloni and his wife was Vicenta Castorino. My father was born in 1927. His mother, Clara Eduwiges Welcomme, was born in 1903 (but I do not know the date yet). I know my grandfather was a few years older than my grandmother. My dad does not remember anything like dates or names. We do know the last name is most probably "deformed". I think my grandfather had siblings but I can't find the information I had. There was a sister Noemi. She had children, I know one uncle Golfredo Gonzalez Boccaloni, who also lives in Argentina. He has five children, Ricardo, Adelfa, Gustavo, Graciela and one other that they used to call "Pate".
I have found some information like what you sent, but I do not even know who to ask since I do not have the basic of the documents from Argentina, so I can at least get a few more names. I only have my dad's birth certificate andmy grandparents wedding certificate. From there I also know my grandmother's father was Eduardo Welcomme and her mother was Brigita Zavaleta. From this side it is either French or French Basque.
There is a Pier Paolo Boccaloni close to Florence, so the name exists as such, but we may not be related since I do not know the real name of when they came to Argentina. And without dates, it becomes even more difficult. Not everyone is interested in genealogy, even their own. I will contact my cousins, in Argentina, to see if they remember anything else.
I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks again! Veronica

Re: Help with my last name
Hi suanj, and thanks again for the information. I am wondering how to find the birth certificates of my grandparents...perhaps that is the first thing to do. In those there should be a bit more information as to the parents. But how can you find that not knowing where they were born? I may be able to get the birthdates; the location may be tricky, since few people paid attention to such details. Any ideas on how to find those in Argentina? Because from this, I guess it is all a toss? Contact one or the other? It Saturday tomorrow, so I will definitely call Argentina to try to contact my cousins.
Will be in touch, Veronica

Hi suanj, I just answered on another thread, which link I will include here. http://italiangenealogy.tardio.com/Foru ... =5260.html
My dad, Hector Romeo Boccaloni, never emigrated to the US. He moved to Mexico in the mid 1960's, the past 10 years lived back in Argentina and recently moved back to Mexico. My grandfather Romeo Leandro Boccaloni, never left Argentina except for travel to Mexico to see us. Thanks, V

Re: Help with my last name

I don't know if you was related also with Salvatore Boccaloni artist in Argentina... from what I know, he born in Roma and raised in Milan, before of immigration in Argentina... he made some trip also in USA and in Brazil... maybe could be a trace for to have a idea of your ancestors came from... regards, suanj
