I am trying to find my husbands ancestors. His grandfather was Francesco Ruocco and we know he came from italy but we don't know where. He came to the uk before 1910 as my husbands father was born then in St Giles district. Francesco worked in a confectioners and lived in High Holborn.
Can anyone help. I have tried to find immigrations records for that period with no luck.

in order to discover which it is your ancestors it must read every ship' s manifest..regards, suanj
Thanks, but would that be for America. Would there be similar lists for Italians entering the UK. I don't even know where my husbands grandfather came from. He didn't know him and nobody really spoke about him so he wouldn't have a clue.
Where would I start looking in Italy. If I knew what area he came from that would be good but how do I find that out.

Not sure if this is any help but my grandfather Francesco Ruocco and his father Gennaro Ruocco are from Minori, Salerno.
