Is this place mispelt?

Post by tenby »

I am trying to find out about a place in Italy, on the UK 1911 census it has Michele Luigi Daverio born Casalbuttaro Itlay but I cannot find anything out about it.

I believe that the right spelling is: CASALBUTTANO in Cremona province

Thank you Suanj I believe I also found his father on the UK 1901 but he has his birthplace as Switzerland. Does the name Daverio sound Swiss or more Italian.

Daverio is italian surname; Daverio is also a town of Varese province( Lumbardy region too, as Cremona province) and the surname most probably had origin by this town name....
in 1100 year the surname appearing in the Codice Diplomatico Lombardo:

"...Interfuerunt ibi vocati testes Guilielmus de Muro....... et Rainerius et Azinus domini Ioannis de Daverio..."
as you can understand by latin words is mentioned a Ioannis( Giovanni/John) - of/coming from-Daverio

To Lynne in Tenby,
I have come across your posting of August, 2009 by accident!
I am so intrigue, because Michele Daverio is my maternal grandfather. I also have the information that he was born in Casalbuttaro, Italy.
However, I wonder what your interest is in him, and whether we can exchange information about him.
