Re: Jacob Knoebel
Thank you for this. im not sure the address he was living in on this census though. My search for this Mr. Knoebel isn't exactly a search on just him but more about the house he lived in (1112 Chestnut Ave. in Brooklyn, NY). This waas my great-grandmother's house, where my grandmother, aunts, mother, and cousins were born. Mr. Knoebel owned the house, and left it to my g-grandmother when he died. Theres a lot of stories about the house and how his wife fell down the stairs there and died along with her unborn child. I was wondering how I would go about finding information on the history of the house, or other former residents of the house. Thanks for the info you gave me, it really did help. Any more info anyone can get would be greatly appreciated.

Go to www.nyc.gov/html/records/home.html and for photographs of the buildings from 1870 to 1970's. Go to www.digitalgallery.nypl.org
On the second site you may have to go thru another site and click on the first entry that comes up for digital gallery. =Peter=

Re: Jacob Knoebel
Dear Jacob you were referred to a website which with research of the website on your part you would have been able to pursue your objective on obtaining 1938 photos of all tax paying buildings in NYC based upon addresses either direct or indirectly.
In order for you to achieve your objective more readily go back to the original website I furnished you ending in .....home.html up above and had you been a bit more discerning you would see on the left hand column a list down toward the bottom where there is a legend in capital letters "TAX PHOTOS"
Click on this "TAX PHOTOS" and follow thru on the web page that comes up. (think of it as homework) =Peter=
