I don't think Camedula is the correct spelling of the surname. Ellis Island has 0 entries spelled like that. Also negative on http://gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/genera.html

I believe that Camedula is only a bad transcription of Crandall surname in 1910 census; Oscar Crandall having not italian heritage... just my suggestion...

Skyebaer

Have you obtained the marriage and death records of these ancestors? They will provide clues in tracing back the next generation. Not all answers can be found in online research.

I was hoping that Suanj would recognize Camedula as a misspelled Italian Surname. The census record does support her suggestion. Hopefully additional research will provide the answers you are looking for.

Thanks for the input! So you think the Census taker just garbled the name Crandall? I am unsure how to obtain marriage and death records other than online,,and until recently i had no idea when he was born,,the cemetery doesn't even have the date in their books ( i wanted to put a grave marker there) nor did his obituary. Plus it says 3 children.. i didnt even know there was a sister. Nobody ever mentioned her when i was growing up. thanks again, deb

he was the nephew of the head of this family and possible he was the father of the grand-niece Madeline, age 5.... he stated he was married but there isn't his wife on the census, maybe he was already widowed?

This is the confusing part..he was the fatherf of Madelaine...why is he living with the Jasmines? Because of the child? ( i know there no way to research that) BUT i know he was not immediately woidowed,,they were seperated somehow because she drank..the Eva Vernon is my great aunt.and was his 2nd wife. But their marriage was later becauase he was already married when they met. Gordon Ackerly was his business partner in the bus company which they ran friom that address ( i grew up there years later) And Earl Vernon was her younger brother how do i find the marriage records?
Thanks so much for all your help!

Deb :D

I was looking better the 1920 census image for Oscar and family... Have you noticed there was a girl living with them all? She was Isabella Stone, niece of the head Fred Jasmin? 11 years old, born in New York...

I tried to search something for Minola Crandall (Oscar's sister) and found an interesting 1920 census manifest:

1920 United States Federal Census
about Minola Follansbee
Name: Minola Follansbee
Home in 1920: Rutland, Rutland, Vermont
Age: 30 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1890
Birthplace: Vermont
Relation to Head of House: Wife
Spouse's Name: William
Father's Birth Place: Vermont
Mother's Birth Place: Vermont
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Female
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 12
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
William Follansbee 31 head, born in VT, occupation Truckman
Minola Follansbee 30 wife, born in VT
Lavinia Stone 13 boarder, born in New York

[img=http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/7899 ... 920.th.jpg]

Do these names light something?
There are no other Minola living in Rutland...

this is the 1930 census for the same Minola...

1930 United States Federal Census
about Minola Follansbee
Name: Minola Follansbee
Home in 1930: Rutland, Rutland, Vermont
View Map
Age: 40
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1890
Birthplace: Vermont
Relation to Head of House: Head
Mother's Name: Mary A
Race: White
Occupation:

Education:

Military service:

Rent/home value:

Age at first marriage:

Parents' birthplace: View image
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Minola Follansbee 40 head, married, born in VT, Hairdresser
Mary A Kiley 65 mother, widowed, born in VT to Canada parents
Harry G Dingwall 58 lodger, single, born in VT

[img=http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/4315 ... 930.th.jpg]

maybe Oscar and Minola's mother remarried? or maybe the last name was mispelled.... I think the two girls Isabella and Lavinia Stone both born in NY were related to the family....
How do i find the marriage records?
Possible Oscar did marry around 1914/15 as Madeline was 5 years old on 1920....

The Mormons microfilmed the civil records for the town of Rutland:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... %2C+and+de++

you can search by yourself using their microfilms... here is the link to find your nearest Family Histoyr Center:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... et_fhc.asp

and to find the town they filmed:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... umns=*,0,0
