Knowing Caterina's maiden name would help locate her manifest.

If you are sure this is your GGrandfather Giuseppe Mirabella from Rende thenyou can go to www.tuttitalia.it/calabria/90-rende and scroll down to MUNICIPIO for the address to send a formletter for the documents you wish to order.

Go to www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/saviello2.html and address the Rende office of vitalstatistics UFFICIO DI STATO CIVILE for birth, marriage or death records. There is no charge just include a self addressed envelope.

If you wish you can go to the nearest family history Library of the Mormon church (www.familyhistory.org for nearest location to your home) and rent the microfilm of the civil records of Rende from 1809 to 1900 at their facilities for about $5.00. Take along a companionbook "Discovering Your Italian Ancestors" by Lynn Nelson which is of great assistance.

It is your decison on how you wish to proceed. =Peter=

Thank you very much, but I dont think that it is her anymore because Collella is the mother's maiden name, the children came to America under that name, but the father on that one was Lepore, sso the kids would really be Lepore which most likely means that this is not the correct woman, sorry. What do you think?

Nick, I agree it's the wrong manifest.
Do you have any records with her maiden name?
If not, you may want to order Salvatore's SS Application ($27)

Nick, I'm sorry, I forgot
Be sure to order a copy of the application, not an extract.

NCJE2910 wrote:Okay, I think the Giuseppe Mirabella is the one on Ellis Island that came in 1894 from Rende, Italy to Chicago. Im not sure exactly but the date he came, the date he was born, his occupation, and his last residence all appear to be correct. The only problem is the fact that it says he went to Chicago. My Giuseppe came to New York; maybe he went to Chicago first and later moved to NY. I dont know if this helps but, thanks. :)
Hi,
Giuseppe was "in transit" so going in Chicago, but in transit for other destination...
so seeming to me....

So you are saying that he probably went to Chicago first and then New York after? - Thank you very much; how would I be able to verify this?

Does anyone have any more information on these people - maybe about some of Giuseppe's children?
