I have mailed a request to Comune di Cosenza for a copy of Guiseppe Pierri's birth certificate. I did enclose a personal check to cover costs. I hope to have a response.

I made a request to Comune di Cosenza for a copy of the birth certificate and have today received their reply: "PIERRI Giuseppe was not born in Cosenza between 1860 and 1869."
The Comune graciously returned my pre-payment personal check with their letter.
So any other towns possible?

Hi, if the ship's manifest is right and your ancestor coming from Cosenza, maybe.. really... it could be also that "Cosenza" meaning abt Commune in Cosenza province also....

Raffaella,
Yes, of course, his birth could have been in one of any number of small communities that surround Cosenza. Hard to know where to go next seeking a copy of the birth certificate.
Again, thank you for your continued interest.
