Re: Help with 1950 Census Record
The address at the top of the sheet is 9016 Albert Road, followed by 9026 Pitkin Avenue. Pitkin resumes below with number 9044. What census-takers do/did is return (out of sequence) to houses where no one was home (or answered) during the first pass. The address 9016 Albert Road (technically 90-16 ...

Re: Making sense of the Castelbuono marriage of Pietro Bertola
Lately my MO has been to compose a post using MS-Word, and then copy and paste it into the ItalGen dialog box to either comment on a pre-existing post or to begin a new topic. For this particular post, though, I could not post the message in its entirety (the error message was "Forbidden, you don't ...

fourth installment:
And for the cherry on top, Pietro's mother identified with the "Laluna" (or whatever) surname on his death act.

Third installment:
My interpretation:
I'm assuming in the two instances where the civil documents (1832 marriage, 1868 death) identify Pietro's father as "Antonio", it means "Antonio Bertola". That Pietro's grandfather is also named Pietro (as per Antonio's 1850 death) fits well with the naming ...

Re: Family surname changes in Italy
I'm not sure if the definition of "foundling" extends to someone whose parents are unknown (or at least undocumented). I don't have anybody named "Proietti" in my extended ancestral families; in the pertinent Sicilian locales the name "Citta" was instead applied to people whose parents were unknown ...

Many public libraries can provide access to Ancestry library version for free; it lacks certain features of the full paid service, but can be used to view most of the records.
