Handwritten Atti Di Morte da Sulmona (Help!)
Ciao.
I have increased the contrast, as this letter was harder to read. It looks like it was written in 1954. I am having trouble with the style of letters and I am not able to easily guess at the words. I believe this is a letter explaining my great grandfather's experience (Pasquale Iacovone) in America and his name change from Iacovone to "Yaugo" upon entering the US. If someone could please help to to understand it, I would be so very grateful. I know it's a lot to read, I apologize. This has been a mystery for many years - my cousin discovered it during his jure sanguinis process.
All the best,
Leslie

The record is a transcription of the death act (of Pasquale Iacovone)...
The official in Sulmona received a copy of the Pasquale's death certificate from Ohio in 1954, and transcribed it into the comune's register of deaths, Part II.
Pasquale died in 1946.
Dated 29 April 1954 at the town office in Sulmona
Before the official appeared Luigi Quaraglia [son of deceased Francesco], 63, usher born and residing in Sulmona, who presented the testimony of Camillo Garzia(?) [son of deceased Francesco] age 61, clerk residing in Sulmona, and of Angelo Xxxxx [son of deceased Concezio], age 42, messenger residing in Sulmona, who asked to have copied into the register the act of death of Pasquale Iacovone...
"Translation of the act of death. Declared from Ohio, District 1242. Register of the District #1504, Civil Office #312 certificate of death. Place of death Contea/Conlea(?) Trumbull, Warren Hospital. Home address: 753 Dover Street, Warren. Duration at this place: 19 years. Regular residence of the deceased - State of Ohio, Conlea, Trumbull, City of Warren. (same address given as above). Permanent residence in US - 48 years.
Name of the deceased: Pasquale Iacovone (Yaugo), Social Security #278-07-7556; gender-male; white; married; name of spouse: Maria Del Signore Iacovone. Age of spouse - 63 years; Date of birth of the deceased: 11 June 1876. Age: 69 years 11 months and 14 days. Place of birth Italy. Occupation-speaker/orator. Father: Pietro Iacovone. Place of birth of father: Italy. Mother: omitted. Place of birth of mother: Italy. The death was announced by "Orrie Yaugo" Address: 753 Dover ST. S.W. Date of burial 31 May 1946. Place of burial: Cemetery of St. Mary. Name of Funeral Director: Charles P. Gillen(?). License #754. Warrent, Ohio. Date of death 28 May 1946."
It states that he died of a bad heart - probably a heart attack.
The official states that he has transcribed the death from a photostatic copy of the original certificate of death from Ohio.

Yes, I noticed the duplicate post after I had translated the document, and posted my reply.erudita74 wrote: ↑31 Aug 2018, 21:48 T

This often happens when a poster creates a second thread...
In the least, it is good to know that Pippo and I agree in our translations

My apologies! I had posted this twice on accident. I didn't see a confirmation that my first post was received. But I thank all of you for your time - each translation is VERY helpful and much appreciated!

I do see one issue - was he a "speaker/orator" or a "laborer" as note by Pippo? I'm guessing laborer.
Re: Handwritten Atti Di Morte da Sulmona (Help!)
I defer to Pippo
A laborer

At first glance, I read "oratore", too...but it seemed so weird!!

Pippo and Tessa - would you say there are any other personal or interesting antecdotes in this death notice?
Re: Handwritten Atti Di Morte da Sulmona (Help!)
Tessa, I thought you had realized...there's "lav" before "oratore", but it's almost canceled
No, Leslie, there doesn't seem to be anything else...
