Hi Peter,
I finally had the opportunity to email John Parker with my inquiry regarding Macchieraldo about 2 weeks ago. So far I haven't recieved a response. Honestly, this is the only forum where I have any luck with questions. I just keep hoping I'll stumble upon something.
Thanks so much for the ...

Re: Macchieraldo
No, Peter, not yet. Hoping to have that completed by today. My father has been in the hospital since October and I visit him every day, in addition to working and two children. Oh, and my husband just decided he wasn't happy after 20 years of marriage and left last week. I've kind of got my hands ...

Re: Macchieraldo
Thank you to all who responded to my post. When I had originally posted this question several months ago, a very kind lady provided me with lots of helpful information. That's when I learned about the Piedmont and the Kingdom the kingdom of Sardinia connection.

Re: Facebook
I think that's a wonderful idea. I have 2 facebook friends I meant searching for ancestors on other sites and unknown distant cousin who was searching for the same ancestor. They've all turned out to be great facebook friends as well!

Macchieraldo
Hello!
I haven't posted in several months, thought I'd give it a shot again.
I'm searching for my ancestor Jean Macchieraldo. Born about 1818, immigrated to US with wife and 3 children in 1860.
I located the manifest I believe has this family listed on it. It has the family as being from Sardinia ...

Great! Thanks so much! I'll check death records. Some states give a little more info than others, at least on ancestry.com. I think John/Jean/Giovanni was a mason. His parents were from Italy, as well.
As always, thank you!
Happy Easter/Passover to all.
Make it a Great Day!

MarieJosephine, because I'm at a stand still with my research, I thought I'd try to help you! I hope you don't mind. I was very intrigued by your story. I took the liberty of emailing a couple of places when I was at work yesterday. I received a very prompt reply from one. Read below:

Re: New to Forum. Hello Everyone.
I'm new myself, but I think there are several experts that post regularly on this site that are researchers. A really kind Italian lady with the screenname "Suanj" was super helpful and I believe she is a researcher. There is a link to her website on all of her posts. The testimonials look great ...

Suanj!!Unbelievable! I can't believe you located that 1870 census! I have been looking for that for I can't tell you how long! Even with variations of the spelling of Maskrod!! I would have never looked at Mostead! I have been staying up far too long on the computer at night, going into work the ...

Wow, this amazing! I think I found a family that fits my family I'm searching for! Ancestry.com has the surname listed as Maechieraldo, but I have my doubts as to the spelling. It is a mannifest from a ship the Alfred Storer arriving NY July 1860. There is a Jean (he is listed as James, but it is ...

Re: Name inquiry from square one... Maskrod
Peter and Suanj, thank you both so much! You've given me some tools and hints to work with that I wasn't previously aware of! The numberway website is really useful! Every Maskrod listed on ancestry.com is a direct descendant of John Maskrod. A branch split off and moved to Washington state. I'm ...

Name inquiry from square one... Maskrod
Please forgive this in advance... I'm searching for the REAL surname of my GGG Grandfather. His name was John Maskrod, listed as born in Italy (various years in US census) but around 1818. His parents are listed as born in Italy, as well. He married in Switzerland to a Madeline Cowie, 3 children ...
