Wow, interesting information. My great grandfather, Luigi DiGirolamo (born in Serracapriola), worked in the mines in (Pittston/Scranton?). He later was a railroad worker on the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley RR Co (Laurel Line). His son, my grandfather, worked in the mines as well-died from lung cancer.

i live in Gargano..correct surname is Granatiero and not Granatieri...here is a surname diffused...in Monte Sant'Angelo and Mattinata..

Yup. I have found Granteed, Granted, and Grunted. My grandmother's maiden name was Granteed. They were from Pittston/Hughestown. I also found out that it's not spelled Granitieri, but Granatiero. Not sure where in Italy they are from, but I believe it's Vico del Gargano. I have recently made a ...
