If you have trouble getting documents and just want to get them sooner rather than later, I used the services of this very fair, kind and reasonably-priced Sicilian man: giovannimontanti@gmail.com
His charge for documents is below that of the various Web sites online, which charge something like 50 ...

Re: No response from USICS
My index search took over a month, I think. And then pulling the files (I had to get naturalization records) took 3-4 months-ish. I've heard that non-existence letters can take even longer. NARA, for me at least, was much faster. As you know, the government shutdown has not helped things, and is ...

Re: Dual Italian Citizenship -Australian
Sorry, this seems like a pretty open-and-shut case of you not qualifying. If only your mom had been born prior to their naturalizing things would be different. Unless you have Italian heritage on your father's side, you don't really have a leg on which to stand. If you can find work in -- and a visa ...

Giovanni is a really nice guy who is very successful at getting you documents at a fair price -- cheaper than the Web sites and services online. Many of us over at the Free Forum have used his services. I did and got documents I needed within a week.

Re: Documents Needed for Dual Citizenship Application?
When I paid someone to get birth and marriage certs from a comune in Sicily, I was mailed what looked like photocopies with an official stamp and signature, but, I could have been forgiven if I thought they were just xerox copies. In other words, don't sweat it...

What is the process actually like?
I'm curious -- can anyone lay out the actual steps that the consulate employee needs to go through to 'process' an application once it is clear that the application is complete and submitted in full? I'm curious as to the actual tasks at hand. Thanks!

Re: How long after consulate appt. might we hear back?
Chances are you're already good to go -- contact your comune and ask them to mail you a copy of your BC. Make an appointment to get your passport as well -- it should only take them a week or so to mail your BC.

My Brazilian friend told me there is a 10-year wait in Brazil. This was confirmed by another Brazilian. I would avoid, at all costs, applying in Brazil.

My appt recap in DC (late June 2013)
Hi Friends,
I posted once already, but thought this would be helpful for others to understand how things work in DC. I normally post on the FreeForum site, but this is great, too!
I arrived at the Embassy about 10 AM -- there was a line of people waiting to enter. They let you in one at a time ...

DC Embassy wait? Two years?
Hi All,
I submitted my GF-F-Me application yesterday at DC's Consulate. The appt took about 10 minutes at the window with the efficient and friendly Sga. Provenzano. When I asked how long the process would take, though, she respond two years, at this time, due to a backlog. Has anyone had a similar ...
