Re: GGf married under a different first name.
From what was told by the person in Italy who's helping me get my documents, it essentially states that there was no one born on this date with this name in this comune. Essentially positively 'proving' a negative. And I can see how that works for date discrepancies....you're effectively saying the ...

Re: GGf married under a different first name.
I hope I'm not 'threadjacking' here, but I have a similar issue. I am attempting a pre-1948 case going from grandmother to mother to me. My grandmother's name on her Italian birth certificate is Maria, her name on her marriage license is Yolanda (she was married in the USA), and indeed, she went by ...

Re: 1948 rule & lawyers who handle the cases
Hello to both!
@camilamv Luigi is great, so if he's working well for you, that's perfect! But as I've learned, and confirmed with other folks, if you have a less straightforward case, he tends to not want to take those on. And he did kind of back away from ours saying that, though it wasn't ...

1948 rule & lawyers who handle the cases
Hi all!
I'm hoping to start a thread that addresses the various lawyers in Italy who deal with cases involving citizenship through women born before 1948. I couldn't find a thread like that on here, aside from the larger thread on Luigi, but if I missed it, just let me know.
I myself am going ...

Re: Confused on eligibility Jure Sanguinis?
Hi mler!
Sounds like good news, VinceJones!
So, I realize my case and VinceJones' are different, but I'm interested in this issue because it's directly impacting my application for dual citizenship with Luigi Paiano. My grandmother was apparently a minor (just barely, sigh!) when her father ...

Re: Confused on eligibility Jure Sanguinis?
Hi VinceJones,
I could be wrong, but I believe since your ggf naturalized when your grandfather was a minor, this means that, unfortunately, your grandfather automatically lost his Italian citizenship and became a US citizen with your ggf. As such, your mother would have been born to a US citizen ...

Re: Torino birth certificate
Hi Italiaup!
I'm curious...were you able to obtain copies of the Atto di Nascita that you needed in the end? I have been trying to locate my nonna's in nearby Cuorgnè, and haven't had any luck. I've been sending emails and letters (in Italian and with copy of my driver's license etc.) over the past ...

Re: Birth records from Cuorgnè
Hi Marty!
Thank you again for your advice! It's always so helpful. So, I did try sending to that same address and email, but perhaps I will give it another try with your letter example. It's much more succinct than what I've been sending. Thank you very much for that!
Also, this is my nonna's ...

Re: Birth records from Cuorgnè
Hello to anyone still out there/following this thread! Just a quick update to say I have sent a few letters/emails (in Italian), with scans of my photo ID to the offices in Cuorgnè, but nothing has really worked. Actually, I have yet to receive any kind of a response at all.
Has anyone else had ...

Thanks very much to both... I'm still a little new at this whole forum thing and haven't figured out how to set up alerts etc. when someone responds to my post, so I just finally found this one again and saw these!

Birth records from Cuorgnè
Hi all! I have been on the hunt for my nonna's birth records for ages now, and have finally gotten a break in the case, so to speak! She always said she was born in Locana, and we've been there, seen her old house, etc...but I could never locate any kind of a birth record for her from Locana. Now we ...

Re: Bertolino/Locana/Torino
Hi Marty!
Thanks for your response! She was born June 6 1906 (though that's never actually been confirmed). I did try looking through those once before and couldn't find hers, as I think maybe the birth records are cut off at 1900? Or perhaps I was doing something wrong! Maybe there are other ...

Re: Bertolino/Locana/Torino
Dear Airborne,
I'm not sure if you still check this thread, but I just wanted to say that I too come from Bertolinos in Locana!
My nonna (Yolanda Maria Bertolino) came to the US in 1921 with one of her sisters and her mother, and her father (Giovanni Antonio Bertolino) had come with her other ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Hi all,
I thought I'd do a follow-up post with regard to my question from above. Essentially, I heard back from Luigi and he said that, since my grandmother was automatically granted citizenship as a minor when her father naturalized in 1923 (this law was changed in March, 1929)...we can't go ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Hi Cvmadd,
I'm trying to understand:
Your nonna (grandmother) and grandfather came to US in 1920s
Your grandmother never naturalized
Your grandmother's father naturalized while she was under 18 ? So he was already in the US when she got here?
I think that she was already an Italian citizen by ...
