After waiting over a year, I finally received the USCIS paperwork I requested -- and I am trying to figure out if I still have any remaining thread of hope for citizenship by descent.

My paternal great-grandparents were both born in Italy (1898 and 1901).

My GGF naturalized in 1926 ...

I don't know what this document is, as it is only signed by the applicant (my great grandfather) and not a judge/etc indicating that the application for naturalization was ...

Ugh, nevermind, it appears this is the order granting him citizenship (I believe) just 18 months prior to my grandfather being born.

Marty, I am having difficulty reading this - but doesn't it actually show that Costrenzo (or Costrenze) went to Elizabeth, NJ and the other Perrone (Santo, maybe?) went to Connecticut? Elizabeth still makes sense because that is where my family eventually settled and where my grandfather was born. I ...

I don't currently have their marriage license. They married in the US (I think in Connecticut) sometime before 1920, but I haven't been able to locate it yet -- I just started this process a few days ago and am truly struggling with how to go about finding these documents.

Thank you!! I appreciate your help. I believe they were both born in Tusa. But even if my GGF did not become a citizen before my GF was born, will I have to fight the 1948 rule since he was born in 1929? Or does that only apply to mothers (sorry I'm VERY new to this process)

My GGF lists his birthday everywhere as May 13th, not May 31st. Do you think this could be someone else or is it more likely that my GGF was incorrect about his DOB? If so, will this cause problems with matching any US documents for him (same question with respect to ...
