Re: Obtaining BIRTH CERTIFICATE of deceased mother, New York State

Before the lawyer route, you may get lucky if you apply to the town clerk that has the record rather than the state. No promises but it's cheap quick and easy.

Re: Apostille and translation

True as far as it goes, mier. But in some cases I understand the translation needs to be apostilled. This is for Boston, not sure of other consulates.
gisaucci, did you ever get to the end of the process?

Re: Proper sequence of document, Apostille, and translation?

Hi Paola, thanks for the great explanation. I am in Boston, so I must have the translations apostilled as you say above. My question is, can I have the original document apostilled in one state (for example NY Birth cert apostilled by NY Dept of State) and the translation done in another state ...

Re: Any experience with Boston Italian Consulate?

Hi MIke,
I am in a very similar situation with my grandfather. Were you able to get some documents so the all matched? How did that go?
My docs are not from Mass, so details may vary but I will be using the Boston Consulate.
I understand there may be another way to do this - called a "One and the ...

Once you have your certified documents, you will have to apsoitlle them in the State they originate from.

The translation is separate. There is usually a section on the consulate's web site with a list of translators. In many instances ...

Re: "One and the Same Person" Court Order Help

Hi suanj, I just looked at the 2 links you provided. Those are affadavits for when YOU have different names. I need one to certify that my (deceased) GF had different names. Do you have or know of any examples?

Re: "One and the Same Person" Court Order Help

Thanks, suanj - I have a similar problem, my GF has his Italian first name on his birth certificate and all other docs have his americanized name. Is it a given that the Italian Consulate in Boston will accept the OATSP affadavit? That seems to easy...
Thanks!

Re: Court Order for One and the Same Person

Hi,
How do you go about getting a "one and the same person" court order? My GF changed his name (informally) from what is on his Birth Certificate - everything else has his americanized name. This is for Baltimore.

Re: "One and the Same Person" Court Order Help

Hi Nick,
I am not familiar with the OATSP court order. I have a similar problem, my GF used an americanized name all his life and all but birth certif. are in that name. Is it a fact that the Italian Consualte will accept this Court Order as opposed to requiring that the documents be changed to all ...

How do I correct the name on my grandfather's death certificate?

Hi,
My paternal grandfather died in Baltimore in the 1970s. The name on his death certificate (I have a certified copy) was his "Americanized" first name that he used his entire life, not the "Italian" name as shown on his birth certificate. (He was born in Baltimore and I have a certified copy of ...
