The kids thought, from family lore, that they were from Calabra. I have no idea. We share a mutual mother (great grandmother). I tried tirelessly to find his birth place but gave up. There are missing records...from about 1854 - 1869. I am looking for those records...but I also want to document the destruction of the records. Any ideas?

Mafia in Trabia

I have heard that a Loprinzi family left Trabia, Sicily for America because the mafia came to him and said "if you tell anyone we are here, we will kill you and your family." Did the mafia voyage far outside of Palermo and Corleone? Would they have done this?

According to legend, a gentleman who was supposedly a fascists burned the town hall because it held his vital records. He wanted to leave Italy but could not if they had his birth certificate.
