Re: Enrica Avanzi's mother Anna's surname

As my rule in the researches I always go to the Allegati/Pubblicazioni volumes that has more interesting info and visible certificates than in the Marriages volumes that shows the simple act only.
here Gaetano's pubblicazioni:

Re: Enrica Avanzi's mother Anna's surname

tanks Angela, look at the end of second page marriage act, Luigia Anna signed herself the act (so not illetterate) as "Saglioni", to me it proves definitively the correct surname.

Re: Enrica Avanzi's mother Anna's surname

Could be. Solution is to find the death record of Saglini/Saglioni Anna of Gaetano, or Gaetano death records and see what happens with the surname wrote (probably) by a different hand.

Re: Enrica Avanzi's mother Anna's surname

Saglini is the correct surname. Make a comparison between S and V capital letters repeated several times in the act. Note the S of Stato in the initial lines identical to the first capital surname letter and no "a" before the "n".

Re: Translation of Marriage Document

No doubt surname is Verdosa, make a comparison letter by letter with other similar letter in the act. But was quite common at the time to have wrong name or surname recorded by the employers for several reasons. In this case the married couple are both illeterate (as stated at the end of document ...

Re: School photo

from 1904 to 1923 primary school course was made of four years, it means four class: I, II, III, IV.
The board at teacher's foot say "IV Classe", so this is the last year of primary school photo.
To me it's around 1900-1915, note the sailor dressing of some children typical of that period.
