Re: Italian Dual Citizenship Maternal GGM -1948 Judicial Procedure

Hi there @taxi55! Just saw this. I was on a break from the Italian citizenship boards to preserve my sanity. I have a 1948 case in Naples Court on March 20, 2025. It was originally scheduled for July 5, 2024 but the judge set a second court date (no explanation provided).

Re: Jure Sanguinis Help - Marriage Certificate Roadblock

Hi JonJCurtoJr,

Mler has the best advice. But if you still end up wanting to track down that marriage certificate I have a couple of ideas. I've gone on a wild goose chase for a couple marriage certificates in my journey.

My advice is, (if money isn't so much an issue) try states that bordered on ...

Re: Need to amend my parents' marriage cert, but my dad isn't receptive

Hi Qualdom,

Luckily this had a good resolution. I asked my ICA case specialist if the driver's license number on the affidavit was truly needed. She said it wasn't and she wrote it out of the document. Now the affidavit looks good to my dad so he will sign and notarize. Thank goodness. When I saw ...

Re: Do I have a consulate case after all?

When a man naturalized before the 1922 Cable Act, his wife automatically naturalized with him, making her a US citizen involuntarily. That is why no naturalization records will be found for a woman in that situation. I’m guessing the Italian courts still insist on a “no record found.”

I know the ...

Re: Do I have a consulate case after all?

I’m using ICA as well and my case is similar to yours, my great grandfather naturalized before 1912 and my grandfather was born in 1915. It took ICA some time to validate all the records, thus we switched to a 1948 case via my great grandmother who never naturalized and ICA obtained a no record ...

Need to amend my parents' marriage cert, but my dad isn't receptive

Hi everyone,

I hope this snag I've run into doesn't mean that my case is dead. For some background, my dad is very nervous about identity theft and is averse to the idea of sending his personal info to anyone.

I have all my vital records. Just one problem with my parents' marriage cert. My dad was ...

Re: Children born in U.S before father's naturalization

The power of attorney was signed by both my wife and me. Luigi Paiano said he had never heard of a judge make such a requirement; So I doubt you will have any problems if you have both parents sign the PoA.

There is a way to certify a PoA with the state department that you could get in the ...

Re: Children born in U.S before father's naturalization

Thank you, but no. The judge was requiring a U.S court order allowing her to participate in the case instead of the normal parental power of attorney. Unfortunately there is no way to obtain such an order in the U.S legal system. I provided letters from 2 U.S attorneys stating such.

My daughter ...

Re: Do I have a consulate case after all?

Hi Mler, thank you for the clarification. I'm on track to file a 1948 case later this year (hopefully) with ICA through my GG Grandmother (married to the GG Grandfather who lost his citizenship). Just wanted to leave no stone unturned.

Re: Do I have a consulate case after all?

Sorry guys, looks like there was a thread about this last year that I even commented on. But if anyone has any input since then I'd be happy to hear it. From what I read in that thread, there wasn't really a conclusion.

Do I have a consulate case after all?

Hi guys, I'm almost done gathering records for my 1948 case. I've been with ICA since Oct 2021.

I read something on the Bersani Law Firm site - they say that if a child is born in the US to an Italian father who naturalized in the US before 1912 (but after the child's birth), the child's Italian ...

Can someone answer a couple questions I have on form DS-4194 to apostille NARA and USCIS docs?

Hi everyone,

While I wait for birth certificates from Benevento, I wanted to get the ball rolling and apostille a few immigration docs from NARA and USCIS. Since my mom was born in Italy (but lost citizenship as a minor before I was born), ICA told me to get my grandparents' naturalization docs as ...

Re: Trying to get birth certificates from Benevento…for an entire year

Thank you Afecad. It’s good to see other’s experiences so I can temper my own expectations. Like the USCIS docs I just have to have faith that one day the documents will arrive. We still have some other stuff outstanding so it hasn’t held anything up so far. We haven’t gotten to the correction stage ...
