Re: Transcribing 1754 Catasto for Marano Marchesato
Yes, I have seen that website. I will try to contact them. BTW, the MM Catasto has been indexed but only as far as family names and households. It has not been transcribed. Consequently, there is no data about the interrelationships between households and neighbors nor their status and financial ...

Transcribing 1754 Catasto for Marano Marchesato
I am in the process of transcribing ad translating the entire 1754 Catasto Onciario for Marano Marchesato and will continue to do the same for the 1743 version. I will then do the same for the Rende and Lappano areas. The goal is to have a complete text-based transcription in Italian and English for ...

Re: antenati site
I would not mind paying a fee for Antenati if it meant that it operated FAST and had more frequent updates. I'd definitely pay for that.

Help translating profession
Here is a death record for Giovanni Ghia where it describes his deceased father's profession (Luigi). I cannot make out what it is. It is record 821 on the upper left.

Re: Daughters' birth years changed by parents? What do you think?
Thank you for your insight! In this case, the death record information was completed by her husband. They were not from the same village in Italy, and the death record was in 1956 in New York City. So, whatever Carmela disclosed when they met and married in 1912 (in NYC) is whatever Stefano knew ...

Daughters' birth years changed by parents? What do you think?
Hello! I am in the midst of gathering documents to apply for dual citizenship and would like your opinion about some conflicting information about the Napoli birth records for my grandmother, Carmela Curcio.
Her death record in New York City states that she was born September 8, 1892. However, I ...

Re: Translate birth record - Caserta
Thank you, Angela. The fact that the witnesses were inconsequential matters since it suggests that Luigi was not situated near family. It means I probably don't have to waste my time going through more of the Caserta records to find other family information.

Re: Translate birth record - Caserta
I should have been more clear - I can translate the vital records information without a problem. What I cannot understand is the information related to Luigi and the witnesses:
What is his profession?
Where is he living?
Where does it say Alfonso was born ("nella casa")?
Who what are the ...

Translate birth record - Caserta
Friends - I am pretty good at translating typical vital records, but this one is too difficult, mainly because the scan is dim and i am not familiar with the language used in this particular record. Please review the record on the right for Alfonso Domenico Salvatore Curcio.

Re: Help identifying the name of a village/town
The odd thing is that Alfonso had a younger sister and an older sister, both 1 1/2 years apart from him, both born in Stella sezione of Napoli. It made no sense that his birth record was nowhere to be found in Stella. Had I not decided on a whim to look at the 1908 immigration manifest one more time ...

Help identifying the name of a village/town
Attached is a screenshot of the town indicated on my great-grandfather's 1908 immigration arrival roster. Alfonso Curcio's parents resided in the Stella sezione of Napoli, but there are no records of his birth there. I cannot determine what the name is of the town of origin on this form, and I have ...

Contacting Parroco S. Maria dei Vergini, Stella, Napoli
Has anyone been successful in getting a response from the Parroco S. Maria dei Vergini in Stella, Napoli related to a baptism record from the 1890s? I am at an impasse locating a birth record for my grandmother, Carmela Curcio, born September 8, 1892 since the Antenati records for Stella, Napoli are ...
