1856 Birth, Gambatesa

Post by JOHN08 »

Two questions about this birth record: (1) Maria Saveria married Damiano ? on the 10th of May 1882 ? (2) She was born at the home at Strada Serrone ?

Thanks for your input!

Hi John,

The surname of Damiano is Pozzuto.

I agree with marriage date of 10 May 1882 - I would think 182 might be too early. :-)

Your guess is as good as any for the street name - Looks like Serrona to me.

Via Serrone and Vico 1 Serrone currently exist in the town. So I believe the street in the document is Strada Serrone.

Tessa and Erudita,

Thanks for you help.

I found the marriage record; It has the date of 17 Dec 1881 (numero 43). By the way, do you know the translation for "Serrone." I could not find this word in my Italian dictionary.

I posted this marriage record.

Serrone is a zoological word for a species belonging to the parsnip family (a root vegetable).

It's also the name of a town in the province of Frosinone, in the Lazio region which, in the 1700s, was a feudal hold.

I also see that it was the name of an ancient noble family in Sicily (in Messina) from the 14th through the 18th centuries.
