Can someone help me identify this occupation?
Northern Lombardy 1850-55. Felice Bernasconi was receiving a salary from his parish for his work as "zeppista?" seppista ?
The context hints that he was something like a sexton, paid when there were festivities. Or maybe something to do with church music? His son Pietro was an organ maker and organ player
I have never seen that word, and even the dictionary of nineteenth century milanese dialect offers no help
It appears many times in the accounts of the parish. I'm attaching two samples
Thank you for taking the time

Re: Help with occupation
Seppellire = to bury, perhaps he was paid by the parish to conduct the burials ?
